Flag retirement ?

Postby deweylure » Sat Oct 21, 2006 10:48 am

I am seeking some information on Flag Retirement Ceremonies. I thought I read a post somwhere on this sight, just can't remember where.

I checked the flag code and also other sites ,it seems there is a wide variety of ceremonies and ideas of how to do them.

Thank you in advance

Hi Dewey, what exactly do you need? Just some directions for local help, or links to sites of information?

You are right, there are a lot of different ways to do a flag retirement. That is because there is no one "official" way, or right or wrong way, to do the ceremony. The only requirement is that it is done with reverence & dignity.

So, go back to those ceremonies you found, find one you like, or bring together ideas from several to create your own version, and go for it!

I was specifically looking for an approved retirement ceremony. It looks like I will have to write one up or use one of the ones on the web.

Thanks for the suggestions
