Troop Etiquette and camping as a provisional

My son is going into a new troop and they are very active. He went to a local summer camp as a "provo" this year for the first time. He really wants to go back. The new troop likes to go further away than 1hr which I understand.
Is it OK to request to go back to the original camp and go with the Troop with whatever they are going to do this Summer? Also what about going to Winter camp alone?

Going to both camps should be OK. We occasionally have scouts go with a different troop or provisional because of date conflicts with the week the troop goes.

Before making plans to go as a provo talk with your new Scoutmaster first. You might also consider sending your son to Polaris or other Jr Leader Training instead of a provisional troop.
