Camp Seph Mack May Close (temp closure)

Postby ThunderingWind » Sun Jul 08, 2007 8:50 am

Because Camp Seph Mack share property with a State Park here in Pennsylvania AND the Government has failed to set a budget, the camp may close for teh last three weeks because the State will turn off all the water and electricity at "non critical" facilities and lay off all non-essential employees without pay.

My daughter would lose her job at the camp (and the rest of the staff) and over 400 Scout would lose out on thier scouting experience.

So if you live in PA, contact your local state rep and senator and please ask them to keep the BSA camp open.

The Council will take legal action to try to keep the camp open if the State fails to approve an operating budget.

Our outstanding PA Legislators agreed to a budget late last evening, and all Commonwealth services are supposed to resume again this morning.

Glad they were able to get it done and save Summer Camp for this year.

Me, too.

Now I get to spend an entire week there as a volunteer.

Are not the PA Legislators the ones who voted themselves a huge raise and then recinded it after being threatened with Tar and Feathers?

it was, I live in Bethlehem

I have only been in this state since mid September of last year. So I just did get to vote in the primaries. I am just getting to know who my reps are and all their viewpoints.

Does that mean you have your own power and water? That is/was the issue with Camp Seph Mack. The power is part of the state park. So if the state turned off the power, the camp has not power.

I apologize to my fellow members from PA. I meant to be sarcastic about our outstanding legislators.

I will leave it at that as this is not a political forum, nor do I wish to turn it into one.
