Just curious if councils are communicating, yet.

Not a peep out of Cleveland....at this time before the 2010 Jambo all the adult leadership positions had been filled and put in place for the 4-troop contingent.
Ours started taking Deposits

Bucktail is a little bit behind the 8 ball but that is not from a lack of trying. Just problems getting everyone together. We do have a good team assembled once we can get everyone together at the same time. LOL! We are taking deposits. $100 reserves your spot. LOL!

For Everyones Information each council also has an allotment of Ventuers. Councils like Bucktail and Westmoreland-Fayette each have 8 Crew members and 2 adults councils like Greater Pittsburgh have 30 or 24 kids 6 adults. The Ventuers will have their own Village and some activities that only they may do.

When I did a search for "jamboree" on my council's website the only result was a place to order council strips from the last jamboree. When I did a search for "2013" I got no result.

GSLC is accepting adult 'intent to serve' forms through the end of this month. Possible tour destinations are listed on the pdf flyer.

UNPC has no mention of 2013 Jamboree on their website. It isn't even listed on the council calendar. I could call and ask, but they obviously aren't making info easily available yet.

TTC has already published their list of 6 SMs and 1 Crew Advisor. Likely tour destinations and dates are listed on the pdf flyer.

I am near the Summit in meeting for the jamboree. Some interesting things have come up.
The troops applying to attend the shakedown will be selected after the cutoff deadline. Kind of luck of the draw.
Staff will be by invite only! for the shakedown. Staff to be selected from those that have registered and are paid up and selected by their managers.
Activities for the shakedown will not be everything that will be at the Jamboree. But everyone will go Whitewater rafting on the NEW.
There will be a cost to visit the Jamboree Somewhere between 40-50$ except for the Very young and elderly etc.
Yes they are planning for the handicapped scouts to participate.
If you do not meet the BMI as allowed forget it.

Right now we are way behind on Staff registrations. SO get with it!
Big need for Climbing Directors and Instructors and COPE Directors
EMT's also will be in big demand

Staff housed in the Sub camps will eat with the troops, No sub camp staff dining.

I got home around noon yesterday and just decompressed. Some additional items that are important.
Everyone will be walking great distances to work or play and the terrain is Mountainous. My climbing Basecamp is 3 miles from the staff village.
The Smart phone is going to be mandatory either bring it or get one there. All the scouts schedule and proof of participation in the aeas that will apply to merit Badges will be put on the phone. The jamboree Today will not be published but sent out on the phones.
There will not be a merit Badge Midway.
The ID the boys and adults will be using will have a tracking chip of some sort. Not an individual id but to see where the people are and maybe help alieviate some jam ups at areas.

Now I will address visitors:
Visitors will enter on the south side of the property and park. They will then get on a bus that will take them on a beautiful 8 mile ride to Jamboree center. A bus will leave every 90 seconds or at least that is what is planned. no Visitors until Wednesday and the limit is 10000 per day.Except Sunday no one until after 12 and 15000 allowed plus Sunday will cost more due to the Big Show. Pre event tickets will be on sale on line.

Anyone planning on Stopping by to check progress on the site Don't you will not get on property.

The area close to the Jamboree is the Biggest Speed trap in the State of WV Coming from the north on 19 starting at Summersville and closer to the site Fayetteville. If the Speed limit is 50 you set you cruise at 48 they give tickets for 51 there is no give. So a word to the wise!

In the end this will be a High Adventure Theme park World Class Climbing and rappelling Facilities built by Eldorado Wall. unbelievable Zip Lines, Challenge Courses and Canopy tours built by Bonsai, Skate board parks, mountain Biking Trails,Sporting Clay facilities, 3D archery, Mountain boarding, Kayaking, Wake boarding.

You cannot use the Summit logo or Jamboree Logo for anything including Business cards without the permission of the BSA.They will litigate

So I guess no electronics on camp outs have gone by the way side. Being in the middle of WV, is there going to be cell service to handle the heavy data usage? Regardless of the provider? Enough electric outlets to handle charging of everybody's cell phone? Anything to do with ATT being a sponsor for the BSA? Will Android or Apple be the preferred operating system? Can I wait to April 1? Questions abound. :)

Cell service will be no problem. There will be charging stations in the Sub camps. They are working on Apps for both systems. What is April 1? I have verizon and I had 4 bars at the Summit. Of course I have the extended network plan both for data and phone service.
