How does a Boy Go To the Jamboree?

Postby wagionvigil » Wed Jan 23, 2008 5:06 pm

I have heard again and again" The Troop is going to try to go to the jamboree> This will not happen.

1. Boys must apply as individuals to go with the council contingents The whoe troop that is of the correct Rank and age may apply but there is no guarantee they will attend
2. If you are a Troop leader you will not be going unless
A. You are selected to be one of the Contingent Troop Leaders
1 SM, 2 ASST over 21 1 ASST. 18-20
SO if your council is sending 3 COuncil Troops that is 12 Adults
B. You Go as a member of Jamboree STaff
If you are on staff you will have very limited time to spend with anyone from your council that is attending. WE had instance when people signed up as staff because they could not get in the contingent troop and when the troops got there they disappeared from the staff. Oh yea they were tracked down and sent home the same day. Please do not even think of it.
This also puts the Staff supervisor in a very bad situation.

Of course, if a troop wanted to go and visit the Jamboree for a day, like all the other outside visitors, they are welcome to do that. They are not official Jamboree participants however.

The Troop must file a National Tour Permit regardless as to how far away they are. If approved they are allowed there one day. I also have a feeling there will be more restrictions this Jamboree at least I Hope so.
They can notgt participate in anything other than the Conservation Area.
There was talk after the show prtoblems in 05 to restrict shows to only paid participants and staff.
