Fall Adventuers

Postby wagionvigil » Sat Aug 05, 2006 11:33 am

It looks like the summer camping season is almost over and School is about to begin. Camps are finished or about to be in their last week of camp. What grteat fall adventuers do you have planned in your troops?Fall is a great time to hike, camp and Bike. If water levels recover the fall is a great white water rafting time especially with the Fall foilage.

We're planning on a mult-day float trip. This is no big deal in large parts of the country but trying to find a river in the North Central Texas area (or nearby) that has water (at least water you are willing to canoe in) in the fall is tricky. We will also be driving into Oklahoma to do a rock climbing campout in November or December.

Dry DFW

I'm also in DFW. My Troop is going to Slippery Falls this month. With Lake Lavon down more than a dozen feet...maybe we could have a lakebed hike, haha.

Our troop will be at Laurel Caverns in September. Unfortunately, they picked a weekend where most of the older boys have a band show on Saturday and can't go.

Our troop has started a new tradition of participating in the Flags on the 48 each year to kick off the season. Information on the event can be found at http://www.flagsonthe48.org/

Yes, that would be us. I am not going though, as I will be going to Akron Band Day.

My son was going to take your climbing badge class for the third time if he could have gone.

We actually take the kids separate from Climbing MB that already have the MB. They go during the classroom part when we have a group over 12
