Even at that, still no actual hunting.

OOPS. The date of the article is Jan 2004 but the web search put Jun 2008 at the top. So it was not approved or is it still under evaluation by National?

Hunting Merit Badge would require a huge change for the Boy Scouts.

Today we can't even play paint ball or laser tag.

The Question as to are they a Crew? He said the older scouts Venture Patrol? As that A Venture Patrol cannot do Venturing Activities Only registered members of a Crew Can do those activities. The leaders also would all have to be registered as Crew Adv and the Tour permit wouyld have to be filed under the crew and No tag alongs.

As far as swimming is concerned, my oldest son is High Functioning Autistic with sensory integration disorder. He absolutely HATED water especially when it was going over his head. He didn't get aquanaut in Webelos (he was still a non-swimmer his first year of Boy Scout camp). We knew he needed to pass the swimming test to make first class and he told us early on that he wanted to be an Eagle. We tried group lessons, private lessons at the Y ($25 for a 1/2 hour a week) and finally private lessons with his Tae Kwon Do teacher (who also teaches swimming). It took almost a year, but he finally passed the swimming test and made first class (he is life now and 3 badges and a project from Eagle). He still hates water over his head and only swims enough to pass the test when he needs to, but it can be done.
That said, if a child is Autistic there may be modifications that need to be made. I don't think making modifications to deal with disability issues is taking away from the Eagle rank but should be done only as a last resort.

There are alternatives, with Dr.'s report and a letter from you to your troop and the DAC.

The process for Scouts with Disabilities and requesting alternative rank requirements is well documented in the ACPP and the main BSA publication that deals with this. The physical or mental disability must be of a permanent rather than a temporary one.

For Alternative Eagle Scout Rank MBs, Form 58-730 is used and final approval is done by the Council Advancement Committee and also signed by the Scout Executive
